The CCCER method for generative engine optimizationThe CCCER method.
Five dimensions that determine whether AI systems understand a brand, trust it and cite it. Developed by Franziska Jäger from the practice of ongoing GEO analyses.
Definition
What is CCCER?
CCCER stands for Clarity, Consistency, Context, Entity and Reinforcement. The method translates the question “Are we mentioned in AI answers?” into testable criteria and concrete actions.
Generative systems combine information from many sources. They favour statements that are clearly worded, consistent everywhere, relevant to the question, clearly attributed to an entity and confirmed by third parties. That is exactly what CCCER measures.
C
01 · Clarity
Clarity
Is it clear who you are, what you offer and for whom?
AI systems summarise. Whatever is not stated unambiguously gets paraphrased inaccurately or left out.
Typical actions
- Unambiguous positioning on home, about and service pages
- Key statements in short, quotable sentences
- Define terms, name your audiences
C
02 · Consistency
Consistency
Is your description consistent across website, profiles and platforms?
Contradictory information lowers the systems’ confidence. Consistent data reinforces itself.
Typical actions
- Align names, descriptions and services
- Maintain profiles, directories and social media details
- One shared wording across the team
C
03 · Context
Context
Does your content answer your audience’s actual questions?
AI answers are generated for concrete questions. Content that answers them fully is used preferentially.
Typical actions
- Collect audience questions systematically
- Build out comparisons, decision guides and FAQs
- Structure content by search intent
E
04 · Entity
Entity
Can your brand, people, services and expertise be clearly identified?
Systems think in entities and relationships. Whoever is clearly identifiable gets classified and connected correctly.
Typical actions
- Structured data (schema.org) for organisation, people, services
- Dedicated pages for core services and experts
- Linked profiles and knowledge sources
R
05 · Reinforcement
Reinforcement
Do external sources back up your claims?
AI systems trust statements that independent sources confirm: trade media, associations, studies, reviews.
Typical actions
- Presence in relevant trade media and directories
- Use studies, rankings and talks
- Build mentions where AI systems research

FAQ
Questions about the method
Is CCCER a ranking factor?
No. CCCER is a framework for analysis and work. It bundles signals that, in my observation, influence how AI systems understand and cite brands.
Does CCCER apply to all AI systems?
The dimensions apply across systems. Their weighting differs by engine, for example between ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. The Industry Radar documents such differences.
How does CCCER relate to E-E-A-T?
E-E-A-T describes quality signals from Google’s perspective. CCCER translates trust and expertise into concrete checks for generative systems and adds consistency, context and entities.
